Learner Entry Requirements: Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy

  • If you don’t have this but do have 2+ years occupational experience, entry to the qualification may be considered subject to an interview with our Centre Head and a review by Focus Awards of current knowledge, understanding and skills

Course aims: The Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Laser & IPL Treatments is aimed at beauty therapists looking to specialise in Laser or IPL treatments. The qualification will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required in order to provide laser and IPL treatments to the general public. The qualification focuses on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using laser and IPL. The qualification would also cover safe working practices, identifying and controlling hazards, identifying hair and skin conditions and those clients suitable for intense light and laser system treatments.

You will:

  • Be able to implement and manage health, safety and security practices in the salon.
  • Be able to communicate and behave in a professional manner when dealing with clients, as well as managing their expectations
  • Hair Removal Techniques: Safely and effectively reduce hair growth using advanced laser and IPL technology.
  • Skin Photo Rejuvenation: Treat skin conditions and improve skin tone through professional IPL treatments.

Course Structure: This qualification is both internally and externally assessed. 

Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit.  The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include some or all of the following:

  • Practical assessments and assessor observations
  • Written assignments, worksheets, and projects
  • Oral and written questions
  • Witness testimonies
  • Peer reports and recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Support is available from your tutor should you require it.

You will need access to a computer and Word (or equivalent).
