- Will I need a skin test?
- No. Radiesse has a biocompatible formulation. It will not produce a toxic or allergic response. Are there any side effects? Very few have been reported in clinical trials and in actual usage. However, you might experience some common injection-related reactions like swelling, pain, itching, discolouration and tenderness at the injection site.
- What if I’m taking medication?
- If you’re taking aspirin or other medication, please consult your nurse practitioner for further advice.
- Does it hurt?
- Patients may react differently, so please check with your nurse practitioner about pain management during your procedure.
- Can Radiesse be injected over other implants?
- If you have other implants or materials still in place, please notify and consult your nurse practitioner.
- Is Radiesse permanent?
- No, the gel carrier dissolves within a few months and the structural micro spheres are broken down through the body’s natural processes.
- Will Radiesse become hard or noticeable to touch?
- No, Radiesse stays soft and pliable and will take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue.
- How long will Radiesse last?
- A Radiesse correction can last up to 18 months or more, BUT it does depend on individual results to the treatment; which are dependent on age, skin type, lifestyle, and muscle activity.
- Is Radiesse approved?
- Yes. Radiesse is fully approved for facial augmentation with CE mark certification and a number of USA FDA clearances.
- How quickly can I return to normal activities?
- Around 24 hours after injection, most swelling or redness will have subsided. Some patients return to work immediately following their injection, while others may need 24 hours.
